COVID-19 Vaccines and Epilepsy – Focus on DEE Population

In conjunction with NIH and our partners at the PCDH19 Alliance, we held this webinar to update DEE families on COVID-19 vaccines and epilepsy. This included updates on the development of vaccines and treatments for COVID-19 and an explanation of how COVID-19 impacts the nervous system, with special consideration for those with developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs).

Our guests were: Jennifer Holland, a school psychologist and mom to Sloan, who has PCDH19 Epilepsy, who shared her experiences with rescue meds.

Dr. Adam Hartman – the Moderator of this session who is a Program Director at NIH/NINDS and practicing pediatric neurologist.

Dr. Jim Campbell, Associate Professor at University of Maryland School of Medicine – Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist active in global vaccine research.

Dr. Avindra Nath, is a physician-scientist who specializes in neuroimmunology and is the Intramural Clinical Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health.
